Windows Alarm Utility (WinAlarm v.1.12) by Matvey Karpushin (mat@orient.rcupi.e-burg.su) Brief overview -------------- The WinAlarm sends the sound signal and shows dialog box at the user defined time. The dialog box contains user defined text and associated with the event icon. When not used, the program can minimize into system tray, and will pop up onto the screen when the defined time has arrived. You can define any frequency of the events (daily, weekly - on specific weekdays, monthly - on specific dates, yearly and once). This allows for a great flexibility in defining your business (or leisure:) time. The program is very small in size (130 kb) and works very fast even on 486SX33. You can define up to a thousand events (if you really need this:) The program has very simple and friendly interface, compatible with Windows Explorer (including keyboard functions). Compatibility ------------- This program is for Windows 95 only (theoretically should work on Windows NT 4.0 too. As a matter of fact, it uses Win95 GUI and, therefore doesn't work with Win32s). Installation ------------ You should unzip the program into some appropriate directory (e.g. C:\Program Files\WinAlarm), and run the executable from the Explorer or from command line. To remove the program, simply delete the directory with it from system. Using WinAlarm -------------- -About program To view information about WinAlarm simply choose option "about" in system menu on the main dialog box. -Adding an event To add an event, push "Add ..." button in main dialog box or push right mouse button over event list and choose "Add" option in popup menu. If you don't enter this name, WinAlarm automatically will use the name in form: EventNNN, where NNN is unique event number. For more detailed information about the event you can type in the event subject in the "Subject" field (up to 512 characters long). But only the first line of the event subject will appear in the event list. To change event time you can push "Set time" button or simply double-click on the event time in the "Add event" dialog box. The following modes of event frequency are available: -DAILY - event occurs every day on specific time; -WEEKLY - event occurs every week on specific weekdays and at specific time within chosen weekdays; -MONTHLY - event occurs every month on specific dates and at specific time within chosen dates; -YEARLY - event will occur every year on specific date and at specific time; -ONCE - event will occur only once; after this all information about the event will be automatically erased. -Editing the event To edit an event you need to choose an event in the event list and push the "Edit" button. Also editing is available through pushing right mouse button over the event icon (or event name) and choosing the "Edit" option in popup menu. You can also double-click on the needed event. After this WinAlarm will show "Add event" dialog box with the filled event properties. For more information about editing event properties. see "Adding an event" section. -Deleting an event To delete an event you need to choose an event in the event list and push the "Delete" button. Also editing is available through pushing right mouse button over the event icon (or event name) and choosing the "Delete" option in popup menu. -Keyboard acceleration In main dialog box some keyboard shortcuts are available: Shift+F10 shows popup menu (as the right mouse button does); Insert "Add" button synonim; Delete "Delete" button synonim; Alt+Enter "Edit" button synonim. -System tray icon The "Hide" button in the main dialog box minimizes WinAlarm into system tray.
